Experienced

A friend recently said something to me so profound that it changed me…physically, mentally and spiritually. Sis, she said, people are not ours to own but to experience. Why hadn’t I thought of this before?!?!

I, the QUEEN of experiences, did not have the same view of people as I did for the other nouns (places and things). The heartache I would have saved myself. This single idea really changed things for me. I don’t interact with others as if they are mine and only mine to have and to hold (PHYSICAL). I’ve learned to share! I’m an only child so I never had to share my toys. I’ve been that way with some people as well but no more. Letting go of something (person, place, job, hairstyle, etc.) is so much easier when I realize it wasn’t really mine to begin with (MENTAL). It frees up space in my head and my heart for new experiences in whichever form they choose to present themselves. Whenever someone is no longer part of my life, I send them light and love and find the peace within myself to keep it moving (SPIRITUAL).

My opinion has always been, if I’m living this life right it will be lived through a series of experiences. Now, that includes the people in my life too.
