The Thing

The black people at my new job haven’t done the black people thing. Do we not do this anymore in corporate America? If not, can we bring it back? I mean clearly, you might think I’m not down for the black people thing based on Randi’s version of how we met (side eye), but I am!

When I get to a new job I expect all the black folks to come up, give the professional “hey friend, hey”, introduce themselves and download me on all things black and corporate. Well maybe not all but someone! While I understand that when 2 or more of us gather in one place they get nervous but this is ridiculous. I haven’t had this happen once and I am utterly disappointed.
