I'm Ready
I’m so tired of seeing my people battered and beaten repeatedly on film. Hearing the outrage but not seeing the change. I’ve watched a friend bring down a high profile pedophile by using her voice. What will I use mine to say? To do? I don’t know how in this climate we affect change when we can’t breathe, run, drive, stand still, mow the lawn or do anything while also being black. Being black is LIT. I love being a woman and especially a black woman. How many times will I have to suffer in white silence while pretending the very existence of my people is seen as a threat to those who feel they are superior, simply due to a lack of melanin. I don’t know what happens next but I know I’m all in for it.
