MomMomMom
I’m a mom of a certain age - with two grown daughters and grandchildren. I had my children when I was young and was a single mom for a lot of years, we all grew up together and I know for certain there was nothing by the book - Dr. Spock would have probably shunned me - but I loved them unconditionally - I made lots of mistakes along the way but I learned so much about me and them in the process. There is no perfect mom, and that’s ok. Despite my naïveté- the kids turned out alright!
Being a mom is the best and hardest job in the world - the joy and the pain - whether you are falling in love with your newborn baby for the very first time, watching them go off to school, not needing you as much, loving them through heart break and hard times and new challenges - needing you more - starting new careers, dealing with disappointment - seeing them fall in love get married and have children of their own - I’ve always been there, I’ve been and will always be their biggest cheerleader - I have gotten on their nerves and Lord knows they have gotten on mine - and I would not have it any other way!
It’s rewarding, exciting, exhausting and rejuvenating. It’s a badge I wear with honor. Now bring me some wine.
